With little money for media and a big target to hit to get people gifting Bridge Climb for Christmas presents, we flipped the brief on its head and instead of writing radio ads for the Bridge, we offered the bridge up to the media itself. Inviting Aussie radio stations and their premium shows to pitch to us, we offered the exclusive opportunity to broadcast from our product, in return for numerous shout outs, interviews with staff and—naturally as the sun rose for premium morning show timing—an entirely natural account of how amazing it is to stand on top of the Harbour Bridge. In addition, I love heights, to it was a dream come true to convince them (on the recce) that I needed to be one of the few people to climb the additional ladder to the very top of the bridge, standing by ‘Blinky Bill’.
